  • FIGHT AGAINST AIDS  PROGRAM IN AREAS OF HEALTH KADUTU, IBANDA BAGIRA AND IN THE CITY OF BUKAVU

     

    In the HIV field, the main components addressed by PIFEVA were as follows:

    Reduce the risk of HIV transmission from mother to child and increase family planning rate in the health zones supported. In this component, the results achieved have consistes to operate the new PMTCT sites. The desired effect was to increase the participation of pregnant women and their male partners in PMTCT services targeted sites (Kadu, Bagira and Ibanda).

    Promote increased use of PMTCT services in health zones (Kadu, Bagira and Ibanda) the impact sought through the implementation of activities under this component was decreased risk of Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child in the supported health zones. During 2014, the following results were achieved

     

    RESULTS ACHIEVED

     

    15 providers were trained in the organization of PMTCT;

    3 PMTCT sites were installed and equipped with necessary inputs;

    15 community actors were trained to the awareness training organization;

    1373 pregnant women seen at PMTCT sites and recommended for screening,

    1245 pregnant women were screened against HIV and withdrew all the results;

    46 HIV + women are accompanied against HIV;

    256 male partners were counseled for HIV testing;

    123 male partners were screened against HIV who have withdrawn 97 results;

    1729 couples were counseled on family planning;

    312 couples have accepted family planning methods;

     

    1643 women were sensitized community stakeholders;
